About Me

Janice grew up in Rocky Mount, N.C., but spent her childhood summers fishing and crabbing with family at her grandparents’ cottage on the Pamlico Sound in Beaufort County. She earned a BA Degree in English and a Masters of Education from North Carolina State University. Following college graduation, she began a 25-year local government career with the City of Rocky Mount, N.C., serving more than twenty years as Human Resources Director. She served as Director of Human Resources with the Georgetown County School District in coastal South Carolina from 2004 - 2010.

Janice has been active in professional organizations, having served as past President of the N.C. Organization of Municipal Personnel Officers (OMPO), as a board member of the N.C. League of Municipalities, and as a member of the S.C. Association of School Administrators. Involved in community activities, she served in leadership roles with Nash-Rocky Mount United Way, Hospice of Nash General, and was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Janice has two sons. Henry is a graduate of Tri-County Technical College in Central, S.C., and works as a heating & air-conditioning technician in New Bern. Jesse is currently a student at N.C. State University and is a cadet in the Army ROTC program.

Janice recently relocated to Pamlico County and truly feels as though she has “come home” to eastern N.C. She has been welcomed as a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Oriental..
